Let's Talk About Your Period When Should I See My Doctor?

For most women, PMS does not require treatment by a doctor. Some women have a more severe form of PMS called PMDD. This is condition where your PMS symptoms are mostly mood related and so severe that it stops you from going on with your daily life such as working, seeing friends, doing house work, etc. If you have this then you need to see your doctor. Also you could be mistaking your PMS symptoms for symptoms of a mental illness which also requires you to see a doctor. If you experience any of the following symptoms make an appointment with your doctor:

  • Severe PMS symptoms that make it hard to do your daily activities
  • The symptoms are always there; there isn’t a period of a few days where you don’t feel those symptoms
  • The methods you’ve tried to treat your PMS don’t work
