Let's Talk About Your Period What is PMS and What Can I Do to Feel Better?

Premenstrual syndrome, also known as PMS, causes changes in your mood, behaviour and/or body. No one really knows what causes PMS but some experts believe it’s caused by a combination of changing hormones and chemical imbalances in the brain. Up to 85% of women have one or more premenstrual symptoms at some point in their life and up to 1 in 10 women have such bad symptoms that they cannot do their regular activities for the day.12 PMS tends to start in the middle of your cycle and goes away when you start your period. As you get older, your PMS may get worse.13
