Exercise and sports is an important part of a child’s everyday life. Being left out because of asthma may make your child upset and affect them both physically and socially. Exercise is recommended because of many health benefits including making the lungs healthier.

Here are some tips to help your child with asthma to be active6:

  • Identify that your child has asthma to teachers and coaches
  • Fill out all medical forms with details about your child asthma and medications
  • Ensure your child has easy access to reliever puffer
  • Ensure your child knows how to use his/her reliever puffer
  • Talk to the teacher/coach about things that make your child’s asthma worse
