When Every Breath Matters: Asthma in Children Can asthma be cured? Will my child outgrow asthma?

There is no cure for asthma. The medicine given to your child only controls asthma symptoms. The best way to control asthma is to take medicine as prescribed by your doctor.

Some children will outgrow asthma. There is a better chance of outgrowing asthma when the symptoms only occur with a chest infection. However, when the symptoms are caused by allergies, there is less of a chance of outgrowing asthma7. It is impossible to say who will outgrow asthma, but the good news is that with our current asthma medications there is no reason that asthma will slow down your child.
